Multimedia Storytelling

The seven days intense multimedia storytelling foundation workshop propose to discover the new world of Digital Storytelling through the creation of your own short web-documentary.

The participants will work in teams of two on their own short form character-driven web-documentary. They will experience how to record sound and interview, use moving, still images, and edit a short web documentary. By the end of the intense hands-on workshop, each team will have a film produced.

 The theory:

Introduction of Multimedia Storytelling and Web-Documentaries

Why tell stories in new formats?

How is it different from traditional media like reportage photography, radio and TV?

What is character driven storytelling?

What does it mean to build an arc of multiple outlets for the story?

The praxis:

Story preparation – Research. “What is a good story and how do you tell it?”

Audio – How to record high quality audio with different types of microphones.

Interview – How to approach subjects in order to end up with strongest and most personal stories

Video – All things tech. Understanding how cameras work and how to use them under different circumstances.

Story boarding – Plots and storylines. This is where the magic happens!

Editing – Workflows and editing. Final Cut Pro X or Premiere Pro.
