Norbert Jacques hat mit dem Roman ‘Dr. Mabuse der Spieler’ in den 20er-Jahren einen Bestseller geschrieben, der durch die Verfilmung von Fritz Lang zum Welterfolg wurde. Aurikel Hannighofer und Bibianne Egg sind Töchter von Norbert Jacques. Bibiane wuchs als Adoptivkind in Zürich auf und die beiden lernten sich erst vor wenigen Jahren kennen. Die 90-jährige Aurikel erzählt packend und glasklar der viel jüngeren Bibiane ihre Geschichte. Aurikel erinnert sich an die wohl behütete Kindheit am Bodensee. Sie spricht von ihrer jüdischen Mutter und davon, wie der Nationalsozialismus ihre Familie auseinander riss. Und Bibiane erfährt, welche zwiespältige Rolle der Vater dabei spielte.

In the shadow of the world-famous novel and film character Dr. Mabuse, an unusual family story unrolls. Aurikel and Bibiane are the daughters of Norbert Jacques, the author of Dr. Mabuse. Bibiane grew up as an adopted child in Zurich and only got to know her sister a few years ago. The ninety-year-old Aurikel relates with crystalline clarity her turbulent past to her much younger half-sister: A calm and comfortable childhood near the lake of Constance, until the family is ripped apart by the German Nazi regime. And she also reveals what role their father played in these difficult times.
